Yang (ヤン, Yan) is a supporting character in the Street Fighter series. He first appeared in Street Fighter III: New Generation as a playable character.
In New Generation, Yang is selectable only as a "palette swap" of his brother Yun. In the later games, Yang is a separate character with his own unique set of special attacks and Super Arts. He is also a playable character in Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition.
In the Japanese version, he was originally voiced by Wataru Takagi in Street Fighter III: New Generation and 2nd Impact and currently by Masakazu Suzuki since 3rd Strike. In the English version, he was originally voiced by Ted Sroka in Chun-Li's intro in vanilla Street Fighter IV and currently by Johnny Yong Bosch.
Story[]
Yang and his older twin brother Yun entered the Street Fighter tournament to show off their skills in Kung-fu & Kenpo. They later find and fight Gill, who appreciates their effort and grants them leadership of the town. They turned down his offer, since they only fought him to stop his maniacal plans. They still run the restaurant, probably Gen's former "Genhanten". It seems the two girls Hoimei and Shaomei are in love with them. Yun & Yang were only relatives to their long-lost uncle Lee who fought in the first World Tournament (his whereabouts after that was unknown but he did request Gen to train them).
In Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, Yun and Yang set off to fight a mysterious organization (Gill's group, the Illuminati) threatening to take over their village. In their respective endings, Yun and Yang end up driving away Gill from their home town and the two return home to be greeted by their female friend Houmei and her younger sister Shaomei, who both harbor a respective crush on Yun and Yang.

Yun and Yang appears in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a advanced-ranked primary neutral-type spirit that only can be summoned using cores of Mio & Mayu Amakura and Young Cricket.
Abilities[]
Different from Yun, Yang has a special move that can be comparable to Fei Long. The "Torou Zan" performs almost exactly as Fei Long's "Rekka Ken" but Yang does slash motions and knocks down an enemy on the final strike. Depending on kick buttons, the "Senkyuutai" has Yun perform a ground to air kick to send an opponent flying and can help dodge projectiles. Yang can perform a dash teleport called the "Kaihou" can confuse enemies. Like Yun, Yang can perform the palm defense "Byakko Soushoda" and can set up combos by transferring positions with the "Zenpou Tenshin."
