The Sh'ar Imperial Guard is a team of super-powered alien warriors and antiheroes appearing in comics published by Marvel . The Imperial Guard serves the rulers of the Empire, both by enforcing Shi'ar Imperial law on all planets within the Shi'ar Galaxy, as a special ops team and as the Emperor or Empress' personal guard. Appearing primarily in comics relating to Marvel's X-Men titles, the Imperial Guard has been both allies and opponents of the X-Men and other Marvel heroes many times over the years.
They were created by Chris Claremont and Dave Cockrum as an homage to DC's Legion of Superheroes and each guardsman has similarities with member of the legion. like their leader Gladiator (Kallark) who is based on Superboy and Mon-El.
