|~ Merlin to his former apprentice, Morgana le Fay.|
Merlin is a legendary wizard, and a character from The Sorcerer's Apprentice.
He was portrayed by James A. Stephens.
Merlin was a great and powerful magician that worked as a servant in the kingdom of Camelot.
During his service in the kingdom, Merlin had looked after a young girl named Morgan Pendragon. Morgan was a witch that needed help practicing magic. Therefore, Merlin took Morgan under his wing and taught her the sacred art of sorcery.
For years, Merlin looked after Morgan with love and care, until she betrayed him by dabbling in the dark arts. Merlin tried reaching out to Morgan by warning her not to tamper with black magic, however, his warning was not heeded as Morgan, now calling herself Morgana le Fay, made preparations to enslave all of mankind.
Unfortunately, Merlin was betrayed once again, this time by Horvath, and was later killed by Morgana le Fey.
- Merlin is based on the legendary wizard with the same name who existed during the time of King Arthur.
- In the early script of The Sorcerer's Apprentice film that can be seen here, Merlin's intended full name was Merlin Ambrosius. Also, instead being of Balthazar, Veronica, and Horvath's master, he is predecessor of the latters' master named Aurelius Flood.
- Merlin himself only made an appearance in flashback sequences at the prologue of the 2010 videogame adaptation of Disney's The Sorcerer's Apprentice on Nintendo DS.
