(Agent J: I'm Agent Jay. Why don't you tell me exactly what you saw.) I saw a two-headed guy and a woman in leather. (Agent J: Caucasian?) Grey, with tentacles coming out of her hands. And she used them to rip and dash; (Agent J: The skin off of his body. Actually, it's not skin, it's a protoplasma polymer similar to the chemical make-up... of the gum you find in baseball cards. What was the last thing you ate prior to the incident?) Calzone. (Agent J: What time?) Lunch. (Agent J: Spinach?) Mushroom. (Agent J: Hmm. You need pie.)

I can't believe this charm bracelet is what everybody's been after.
~ Laura is shocked about the bracelet

Laura Vasquez is the tritagonist of Men in Black II. She replaces Dr. Laurel Weaver from the first film. Here she gets roped into the whole plot because of her connection with the Light of Zartha, which the main villain, Serleena wants.

She is portrayed by Rosario Dawson, who also portrayed Mimi Marquez in the movie adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, RENT, Wonder Woman in the DC Animated Film Universe, Nyx in Tinker Bell and the Legend of the Neverbeast, Claire Temple in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Batgirl in The Lego Batman Movie, Gabbie in Haunted Mansion, and Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett and Ahsoka.

Biography[]

Past[]

At an unknown date (sometime in the 70's or 80's), Kay and other agents protected Princess Lauranna of Zartha, and was entrusted with the Light of Zartha to stop it from getting into Serleena's hands. However, Kay pretends to launch the Light into space. Serleena kills Lauranna and follows, and the Light is later revealed to be Lauranna's (and implied to be Kay's) daughter, Laura Vasquez.

Men in Black II[]

During her job at the pizzeria, her boss was murdered by a shape-shifting alien which prompted the ire of the Men in Black. They sent Agent J to investigate this as the boss was a disguised alien. Jay ended up interviewing Laura who explains everything she saw. Due to infatuation, Agent J does not neuralyze her despite being a violation to Men in Black policies.

After Agent J manages to track down and bring back his partner, Agent K, their investigation began to go deeper which prompted them to hide Laura with a number of worm-like aliens. Unfortunately despite this, she was discovered by the shape-shifting alien who kidnaps her and brings her to Men in Black headquarters where the agents working there are also captured. Along with the worms, the agents attack the headquarters, succeeding at liberating the place. Serleena attempts to chase them down, only to be eaten by a giant worm in the subway.

Following Laura's bracelent, they end up at the roof of a skyscraper with a ship directed to Zartha. Agent K finally decided to reveal the truth, that Laura is the daughter of Lauranna and also the Light of Zartha. After some convincing, Agent J lets Laura go. Serleena attempts to chase the ship down, having taken the form of the giant worm that ate her though the two agents quickly blasted her apart.

Trivia[]

  • It is implied that her father is Kay, but he refuses to confirm this.
  • Ironically if J did use the neuralyzer on Laura, it would've revealed a major plot point much earlier than the plot intended as it only works on human brain cells.
  • She did not appear in Men In Black III, as she is on Zartha. Similar to Laurel Weaver before her, who was absent in Men in Black II.
