~ Heimo Vesa

Heimo Vesa is the main protagonist in the comic strip Fingerpori by Pertti Jarla as well as its stage adaptations and 2019 film adaptation.

He was portrayed by Santtu Karvonen in the 2019 film adaptation.

Biography[]

Heimo was born at an unknown point in time to unnamed parents who have been shown to not be the best kind of parents, having been shown to read his diary and throw his Tex Willer collection away when he was younger. Other than that there's not a lot known about his youth, apart from the fact that one of his classmates during his education was Asko Arimo Villennius. He's currently 38 years old, married to flight company Fingerair's flight attendant Irma Vesa (née Kääriäinen), works as a researcher for science center Fingerpoli and owns a cat named Rieti. He has been from time to time forced to take big tasks upon his shoulders, such as convincing the Finnish government that Fingerpori is a good place to live in in an attempt to prevent a municipal merger with Turku in one of the stage plays based on the comic strip.

Trivia[]

  • According to his creator Pertti Jarla, "originally Heimo Vesa was just a pathetic little guy, since then he has become something alter-ego-like for me."
  • One particularly noted strip featuring Vesa involves him trying to try on trousers only for Jesus to say that he's had even them fit them for him. This is one of the many controversial strips in Fingerpori that would cause displeasure among religious people.
