“ | It doesn't matter to me, if you see me as a girl. What matters to me is what a person is on the inside, not what sex they are. | „ |
~ Haruhi. |
Haruhi Fujioka is the main character of the anime and manga Ouran High School Host Club.
She is voiced by Maaya Sakamoto in the Japanese version of the anime, and by Caitlin Glass in the English version.
Appearance[]
Haruhi has straight long brown hair that reaches past her shoulders until she cut it into a short boyish cut because some child put gum on her hair and brown eyes. Her voice is noticeably deeper than the other female characters. Her causal outfits tend to be light dresses matched with jeans.
Personality[]
Haruhi is dedicated to her studies and aspires to enter law school to emulate her deceased mother. She is practical and honest to a fault, but also caring and insightful. While she often finds the antics of the Host Club annoying, she appreciates their protectiveness of her and their genuine desire to "make every girl happy." The series shows how Haruhi interacts with each of the hosts in different ways and how her relationships with them evolve over time. While apathetic towards events, she is astute in gauging other people's motives. Throughout the anime, Haruhi remains friendly towards all the hosts, despite several of them stating romantic feelings towards her.
History[]
At the beginning of the story, Haruhi disliked being forced to work for the host club. However, as the plot advances, Haruhi slowly grows less introverted, and starts to realize the boys of the host club have become her best friends who are helping her learn and grow as a better person.
