Nick Bradshaw, call sign Goose is the tritagonist of the movie Top Gun.
Goose was portrayed by Anthony Edwards, who also played Dr. Mark Greene in ER.
An officer in the United States Navy, Goose served alongside his friend Pete "Maverick" Mitchell as the Radar Intercept Officer. Goose accompanied Maverick when the latter was sent to the Top Gun school in California. He participated in a variety of exercises with Maverick. He was worried that he and Maverick would wash out and that his career options would be very limited, especially after Maverick's antics got him in trouble with both Viper and Jester.
During a training exercise the pilot Iceman broke formation, causing Mavrick's plane to fly through Iceman's jet wash. This caused Maverick's plane to go into a flat spin. Having no choice Maverick and Goose ejected from their F14. Maverick got out safely, but Goose collided with the canopy as he was ejected, breaking his neck and killing him instantly.
Even though he was absolved by the Navy of any responsibility in the accident, Maverick had a severe crisis of confidence after the accident. Maverick eventually regained his confidence when he realized that Goose would always be with him in spirit.
