When Chief Powhatan finds them, Nakoma explains they are gathering food for when the warriors arrived.
After Powhatan leaves, Nakoma confronts Pocahontas, believing her friend is hiding something.
"Pocahontas, you can tell me. I promise. I won't tell anyone."
Nakoma noticing John Smith emerging from the bushes.
"It's one of them! I'm going to get-"

Nakoma shocked to discover Pocahontas has formed a friendship with the settler.

After Pocahontas and John leave, Nakoma is surprised to see Kocoum arrive.
When Kocoum asks where Pocahontas is, Nakoma lies, saying she hasn't seen her.
After Kocoum advises her to tell Pocahontas not to run off, Nakoma makes a sarcastic remark about that.
Nakoma watching warriors from neighboring villages come ashore just as Pocahontas returns.
"Pocahontas, are you crazy? What were you doing with one of them?"
Nakoma, Pocahontas, and Kocoum see that the warriors have arrived to fight the settlers.
Nakoma and Kocoum look at each other after Pocahontas runs off to speak to her father.
"Pocahontas, don't go out there! I lied for you once! Don't ask me to do it again!"
"If you go out there, you'll be turning your back on your own people."
Nakoma begging Pocahontas not to go out to see Smith again.
After Pocahontas leaves to meet John again, Nakoma approaches Kocoum.
Instead of trusting her best friend, Nakoma tells Kocoum that Pocahontas is in trouble, when she really isn't.
Nakoma sees Kocoum's dead body being carried and Smith brought before the tribe, making her regret her actions.
Nakoma approaching a saddened Pocahontas after she was wrongfully scolded by her father for causing Kocoum's death.
Nakoma confessing to Pocahontas that she sent Kocoum after her, and now truly regrets it.
