Elle Woods is the main character of the 2001 film Legally Blonde, its 2003 sequel Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde, and its 2007 Broadway musical adaptation. She will appear in a third installment that is currently being negotiated.
She is portrayed by Reese Witherspoon, who later voiced Ginormica in Monsters vs. Aliens and Rosita in Sing.

Judging from Elle's girlish, bubbly actions and her dreamy appearance, many people assume that she is a "dumb blonde." However, Elle is not what people identify her as, proving that through her experiences at Harvard Law School; those who doubted her realized that Elle is actually a very caring, warm, helpful, and intelligent young woman. She proved to be a spectacular lawyer and her knowledge of fashion actually helped her win in one court case, proving that her style did not go wasted. At first, Elle was depicted as naïve and obsessed with looks, as people were led to believe, but later, her superficial character proved to have more since her educational side shone through. Also, she is shown to be strongly affected by her emotions, such as when her undeserving ex-boyfriend, Warner Huntington III, broke up with her and she attempted to win him back by attending his college, Harvard Law, and when the lecherous Professor Callahan hired her as an intern only to make a sexual advance on her, leading her to believe that she was not a good lawyer after all, until Emmett Richmond stopped her just in time from leaving. She loves her friends, her dog Bruiser, and Emmett Richmond (who is later her love interest and husband) and gets along with everyone quite well, unless they have/had a rather nasty character, like Chutney Windham, Callahan, etc..

Elle is an attractive young woman with long blonde hair (often styled) and clear blue eyes. She also possesses a curvaceous form and high cheekbones, further enhancing her beautiful but supposedly "revealing" appearance, applying to peoples' strong opinion on her stereotype. She wears the color pink quite often, usually in the latest trends and fancy outfits, some rather risque and exposing. She carries her pet chihuahua, Bruiser, with her wherever she goes.
