Count Dracula, or simply just Dracula, is the main protagonist of the animated film Hotel Transylvania and the deuteragonist of its sequel. He is the owner of Hotel Transylvania and the father of his 118 (later 125)-year old daughter Mavis, father-in-law of Johnny and maternal grandfather of Dennis.
Appearance
He is a tall, slender vampire with a black and purple cape, black hair, black jacket, black shirt, black pants, and black shoes.
History
Hotel Transylvania
Early life
Count Dracula was born to an unknown mother and his father, Vlad. Vlad was very rough and strict on Dracula when he was growing up. Dracula was a late-fanger growing up, so Vlad used fear and other cruel methods to scare the fangs out of Dracula. Vlad also made Dracula grow up to hate humans. As Dracula grew up and moved away, he slowly stopped contacting and communicating with his father all together.
The Hotel
Sometime in the 19th century while flying in the night as a bat, Dracula crashed into another bat, and they both fell to the ground. The bat Dracula knocked into turned out to be another vampire named Martha.
Dracula and Martha instantly felt something for each other and soon became inseparable. They began to date, and soon became married. In the late 19th century (in the movie it said 1895) they had a child, a baby girl named, Mavis. Shortly after Mavis was born however, a group of angry humans stormed Dracula's home, intending to kill him and his family for being vampires. The humans set fire to Dracula's home and killed his wife, Martha. Dracula was able to escape the place with Mavis.
Dracula began to live alone somewhere else with Mavis, and began to raise her on his own. He, like his father, taught Mavis to be afraid and hate humans. Wanting to keep Mavis safe, Dracula began the construction of a large castle where he intended to live there with his daughter. After the hotel was finished being built, Dracula took Mavis to live there where he intended to have her live there for the rest of her life. He opened up the castle as a Hotel for all monsters to be safe from humankind.
Years later, Dracula and Mavis are still living at the hotel. Dracula starts to prepare the Hotel for Mavis' 118th birthday. Dracula goes to greet Mavis in her room where he tells her that she can leave the hotel, and visit some humans. Mavis overcome with joy transforms into a bat and flies out the window to the nearest village. Dracula quickly rushes to the village to ensure his plan goes well. He enlists the help of some of the zombies working at the hotel to dress up as humans to pretend to be the townsfolk at the fake village Mavis is going to see. Dracula instructs the zombies to act ruthless to Mavis, pretending they want to kill her. After Mavis arrives he watches with satisfaction as Mavis is scared by the humans and flies away back to the hotel. Dracula smiles, knowing that this is what's best for Mavis. Now Mavis will remain safe at the hotel forever. Dracula quickly flies back to the hotel to comfort Mavis.
Johnny's Arrival
After successfully scaring his daughter Mavis away from the humans, Dracula walks down into the front lobby of the hotel to greet all the monsters. As he is walking Dracula notices some odd shape moving through the revolving door at the front. As the figure comes through the door Dracula realizes it is a human.
Horrified, Dracula quickly rushes to trap the human in the revolving door, demanding to know who he is and how he found this place. The human introduces himself as Jonathan, and tells Dracula that he was mountain climbing and heard a story about an ancient castle. Out of curiosity Johnny traveled in search of the hotel. Dracula tries to push Johnny out of the hotel, but sees the oncoming monsters preparing to enter the hotel. He quickly takes Johnny and throws him inside a closet with him. Dracula debates if he should kill him, but decides not to, as it would set monsters back hundreds of years. Dracula quickly comes up with the idea to dress Johnny up as a Frankenstein monster to sneak him out of the hotel, the plan starts to work however, Johnny finally realizing that all the monsters are real, panics and launches himself onto a witches broom, Johnny is sent flying through the air and ultimately crashes into Mavis. Dracula quickly rushes to see if Mavis is alright. After Mavis confirms that she is ok Dracula quickly takes Johnny away before she can discover that Johnny is a human.
Keeping it a Secret
Dracula takes Johnny to a room in the hotel where he explains to him that he isn't going to kill him. Having calmed down, Johnny asks what this place is. Dracula explains to Johnny that the hotel is a place he built to keep all monsters safe from the persecution of humankind. Dracula then attempts to fly Johnny out of the window by picking him up as a bat. However, Mavis flies into the room too, and catches Dracula in the act. Dracula quickly takes Johnny back inside where he instructs Johnny to play along, and keep his human identity a secret or else. Mavis and Johnny begin to chat, but before Johnny and Mavis can talk anymore Dracula rushes Johnny into the hotel's secret tunnel where he tries to sneak him out. However, Dracula forgets the way and ends up back inside the hotel. Dracula and Johnny find themselves inside a room inside the hotel where Frank, Griffin, Wayne and Murray are preparing their song they've been working on for Mavis' birthday. Frank and the group try to convince Dracula to sing with them. Dracula calms tells them that he hasn't sang since Martha's death. They try to push Dracula some more to make him sing, but Dracula explodes with anger, "I said NO! Don't ask me again!" he said.
Dracula spends the rest of the day trying to keep Johnny's humanity a secret from the other monsters. At the pool Dracula tries to convince Johnny to leave on his own, but Johnny ends up starting a "Chicken Fight" with all the other pool guests, and Mavis. Fed up, Dracula finally kicks Johnny out the hotel. He tries to hypnotize Johnny into never returning, but Johnny's contact lenses prevent him from doing so. He instead tells Johnny that if he returns he would kill him. Dracula then tries to relax with his best friends, Frank, Murray, Wayne, and Griffin in the hotel sauna. However, shortly after Johnny crashes through the roof and falls down onto Drac. Seeing that he can't get rid of Johnny, Dracula instead instructs Johnny to help set up tables for Mavis' 118th birthday party. Johnny however starts to prank Dracula by sending the magic tables flying through the air with magic phrases after watching Dracula say them. Dracula and Johnny begin to chase each other on the tables, when Dracula realizes that he is having fun. The two crash, and Dracula jumps up with excitement. He goes over to where he thinks Johnny is, but sees that he is missing. He notices muddy foot tracks and instantly figures out it was the hotel's chef, Quasimodo who kidnapped Johnny. Dracula takes off at top speed down the halls to find Johnny.
Dracula finds Quasimodo in the kitchen trying to cook Johnny. Dracula frees Johnny from the ropes he is tied in and attempts to leave. However, Quasimodo stops Dracula questioning him as to why he is helping a human. Dracula barks back that Johnny is not a human, and that he is a stein. Quasimodo then decides to have Johnny scare his pet rat, Esmeralda if he really is a monster. After Johnny is unable to scare Esmeralda Quasimodo screams in anger that Dracula has brought a human into the hotel. Dracula uses his powers to freeze Quasimodo and quickly takes Johnny away.
Johnny thanks Dracula for saving his life, as Dracula guides him to a secret room. Once inside Johnny notices a painting. He tells Drac that he remembers seeing that painting when he was told the legend of the lady Lubode. The legend goes that a lonely count met the love of his life. The two were inseparable. The story goes on to say the two settled down with each other, and later had a child. However, tragedy struck when a mysterious fire broke out and killed the two.
Dracula continues to listen to Johnny, but tells him that the legend is wrong. It was only the wife who died. Dracula pulls down the curtain covering up part of the painting, revealing that it was Dracula who was the lonely count in the story. Dracula turns to Johnny and tells him that it was no accident who killed her. "She was killed by your kind!" Dracula says to Johnny. Dracula explains that he built the hotel to protect her child. To protect Mavis. Johnny, finally understands, and agrees to leave the hotel. Dracula stops Johnny. He tells Johnny that Mavis has feelings for him, and that he should stay for her birthday. Johnny agrees, apologizing to Drac, never intending to hurt Mavis. Dracula escorts Johnny out of the room, so they can prepare for Mavis' birthday tomorrow.
Truth Exposed
The following day, the entire hotel begins to prepare for Mavis' party. Dracula finishes the final preparations with Johnny, and leaves Mavis her present from Martha. Martha made Mavis a special present, intending for her to open it on her 118th birthday. The party begins, and all the monsters of the hotel come to attend. Dracula oversees the party, proud that it is a success. Dracula begins to let loose and starts to dance as well. However, a suit of armor guard taps Dracula on the shoulder and points to Johnny and Mavis. Dracula watches in horror as Mavis kisses Johnny. Dracula instantly rushes over to them, outraged at Johnny for kissing his daughter. Mavis tries to explain to Dracula that it was only a kiss, but Dracula yells at her telling her that she isn't allowed to kiss. Mavis yells back at her father that she's allowed to like people and try different things. She tells Dracula that she even wants to give the human village a second chance, and that maybe she can try to be friends with them. Dracula yells back telling Mavis that's impossible and that the village doesn't really exist.
Mavis becomes furious as she yells at Dracula for lying to her and keeping her trapped inside the hotel when he knew she wanted to leave. Just then a frozen Quasimodo enters the room attempting to speak. The Fly walks over to Quasimodo, claiming he can speak froze. He tells everyone that Johnny is really a human. Esmeralda enters the room to, and tears off Johnny's disguise. The room erupts into panic upon seeing that Johnny is a human. Dracula stands still among the panic as he watches Mavis hug Johnny, accepting him as a human. Johnny notices Dracula looking at him, and decides to reject Mavis in fear and respect for Dracula. Johnny leaves, and Dracula attempts to comfort Mavis. Mavis turns to Dracula and tells him that this is all his fault and flies away in anger. Dracula looks up and watches Mavis fly away as all the monsters walk out the room, giving Drac dirty looks.
Change of Mind
Dracula flies around the hotel looking for Mavis. He finally finds her on the hotel roof crying. He tries to comfort her, but Mavis continues to cry. Mavis shows Dracula the gift Martha gave her. It's a book.
Dracula opens it up as he realizes it's a poem Martha wrote about how she and Dracula met. Dracula begins to read: "Two lonely bats crashed in the night they felt a "Zing" love at first sight. They knew right then they would be husband and wife, for a Zing only happens once in your life. Your Zing will come my love, cherish it. Love, Mommy." Mavis explains to Drac that she thought she and Johnny zinged. Mavis feeling heartbroken transforms into a bat and flies back to her room. Dracula begins to realize the horrible mistake he's made. "Martha, what have I done?" he says.
Dracula rushes to the hotel's front desk where all the monsters are trying to check out. All the monster feel outraged at Drac for lying to them, and bringing a human into the hotel. Dracula apologizes to them all, and tells them that he isn't even sure if humans are bad anymore. He then tells them that he thinks Johnny and Mavis "Zinged", but he got in the way. The monsters listen to Drac and all agree to help him find Johnny, and bring him back to Mavis. Frank, Murray, Wayne and Griffin all join Drac as they rush out of the hotel into a hearse, and drive away. Dracula follows Johnny's trail, but the trail soon comes to an end. They all get out of the hearse and notice Johnny dropped a piece of clothing. Dracula instructs Wayne to sniff the shirt to track Johnny scent. Wayne tells Drac that his nose is shot after changing so many werepup's diapers, but gets an idea and calls out to all his kids. The werewolf kids all rush to their father, but fail to listen to him. Dracula turns to Wayne and asks if any of his kids still respect him. Wayne listens to Drac's sarcastic comment and calls out to his daughter, Winnie. Winnie smells the shirt and tells the group that Johnny left through town and boarded an airplane. Dracula thanks Winnie and takes off once again in the hearse towards the town.
Dracula and the group arrive at the town where they are greeted by the humans having a monster festival. Dracula tries to drive through town to the airport, but the path is blocked by humans. Dracula and the group exit the hearse and begin to walk on foot. Murray gets an idea that they should scare the humans into making way for them. They try to scare them, but the humans instead show support for the group. The humans agree to help Dracula by all lifting up their capes from their vampire costumes for Drac so he can be shielded from the sunlight. Dracula thanks them, and takes off under the capes toward the airport. Dracula arrives at the airport just as Johnny's plane takes off. With no other choice, Dracula transforms into a bat and begins to chase the plane down himself. Dracula begins to burn up in the sunlight, but carries on anyway. He arrives at the front of the plane and hypnotizes the pilot so he can talk to Johnny. Dracula explains to Johnny that he was wrong to get in the way of him, and Mavis and that if she should be with anybody he is thankful that it is him. Johnny smiles and agrees to return to the hotel.
Dracula returns to the hotel with Johnny, and brings him to Mavis. He watches as the two of them make up. Dracula explains to Mavis that he wants her to live her life now, and gives her his blessing for her to be with Johnny. Dracula watches as Johnny and Mavis finally have a proper kiss. Dracula and the group spend the rest of Mavis' birthday celebrating by dancing, and singing.
Hotel Transylvania 2
Mavis' And Johnny's Wedding
Mavis and Johnny's wedding kicks off with Johnny's family attending the wedding at the hotel. Mavis is wearing an elegant black dress with spider webs on the collar. Dracula dances with Mavis on the ceiling. As they are dancing Mavis asks Dracula why her grandpa Vlad didn't come. Dracula explains to her that Vlad would not have been okay with her marrying a human, and that he isn't as enlightened as he is. Mavis tries to say if only Vlad could meet Johnny, but Dracula assures her that he would have killed him, and it's best that they never meet. Mavis finally asks her father if he himself is okay with her marrying a human. Dracula smiles and assures her that as long as she is happy it doesn't matter who or what she marries. The wedding ends with Dracula singing a song to Mavis and Johnny and officially giving his blessing to them.
Vampa Drac
One year later after Mavis and Johnny are married, Dracula is in his room panting a monster named Todd just then Mavis and Johnny walk into the room and Dracula tells Todd to take a break and puts the paint supplies and easel away and asks what's up.
Johnny says that Mavis was wondering if him and Mavis want to go out for a fly. And Dracula is surprised and says oh we haven't done that in like forever any special reason and Johnny replies nothing at all right Mavey as Johnny giggles then Dracula asks what Johnny's deal Mavis replies and tells her dad that Johnny is just being silly and also says its just a beautiful night and if he didn't want to then Dracula speaks up and tells Mavis oh no are you kidding me he would eat a bucket of Garlic to fly with you then Mavis runs on to the balcony and flips off the balcony and transforms into a bat and looks back up at her dad and Dracula looks down at Mavis and gives a smile and a nod and stretches his arms out to the side and levitates in the air for a minute or so then he dives down and turns at bat as he does that he skims the water and does some water acrobatics and laughs then him and Mavis fly around under the bridge then Dracula and Mavis start playing a game of hide and seek in the clouds Dracula Mavis are having fun Dracula tries to find Mavis by her nicknames and finds Mavis resting on a cloud and is winded out of breath and asks her if she's okey and and she says yes and says it harder for her to catch here breath because shes pregnant Dracula reassures Mavis that's what happens to all pregnant women Vampires but he cuts himself off mid sentence and says what in response in to what Mavis just told him that she is pregnant then Mavis reveals her pregnant belly to Dracula witch causes Dracula to gasp in excitement and causes him to fly into the clouds and he announces that he going to be a grandpa.
Drac's Concerns
After Dracula finds out hes going to be a grandpa Mavis is bedridden for the rest of her pregnancy and getting ready for the baby having her wait on Drac and Johnny Mavis tells Johnny that shes hungry again and asks Johnny if she could have Ice cream with anchovies just then Drac comes in the bedroom and tell Mavis that it is not good for the baby and Drac insits Mavis to have more monster food so the baby is more vampire Mavis says she really mind if the baby tuns out to be human just like her human husband Johnny and Drac says yes a human who can fly as a bat then Drac gives Mavis a bowl of Monster ball soup which is a reciapie of her mother Mavis happily accepts the bowl of soup she thanks her dad for the soup and says its just like when she had it as a kid then Mavis starts to cry due to her mood swings due to her pregnancy witch causes Drac and Johnny to share a confused look witch also causes the monster balls to cry and eat the spoon later Drac is seen crossing the days off his calendar up until Mavis is ready to give birth to her baby and she give birth to baby boy witch Mavis Johnny name Dennis and Dracula desigses him himself as a human nurse after being not allowed to be in the delivery room to watch Mavis give birth to his grandson and the doctor tells Drac only the father is allowed in the delivery room and Drac relents and then once Drac descises himself as a human nurse he takes his new grandson from the delivering doctor and announcing the baby is a boy and that the Dracula bloodline carries on and tells his new he will never let anything happen to him then Mavis tells her dad if she can hold her new son then Dracula in his desige says if he's dad he would say yes but he says his name is Francine is the nurse and he relents and gives Mavis her baby and smiles at his new grandson with love and then a zombie that thinks that nurse is attractive not realizing that its Drac in dsiguise the zombie strays breath spray into his mouth and does and makes kissing motion then Dracula roars at the zombie and the zombie realizes that the nurse is Dracula in desgise and says "My bad."
One year later Dracula, Mavis, Johnny, Frank, Murray, Griffin, Wayne, Wanda, the wolf pups, Griffin, Johnny's parents Mike and Linda start to celebrate Dennis' first birthday.
Monster Boot Training Camp
The next night, While Mavis and Johnny are in California visiting Johnny's parents Dracula, Wayne, Griffin, Frankenstein, Murray, and Blobby try to get Dennis' vampire side to come out before Dennis' 5th birthday so Mavis doesn't leave. Their first stop is The Dark Forest of Spamonya (formerly) and now it is called Dark Forest Municipal Park and bike Trail then the guys get out then Dracula get Dennis dressed and pushes Dennis' back to make his hair look like his and tells Dennis that he's going to see how every monster does their special way of scaring humans. Frankenstein tried to scare two female joggers, but instead they were happy to see Frank. They wanted to take a photo with him every body else is stunned that it did not work, Dennis tries to scare the joggers by saying boo and the joggers think he's adorable and run off and Dennis' hair goes back to normal. Next Dracula instrucs Wayne to go kill something to show Dennis how he kills. Wayne at first refuses then Dracula tells Wayne how they are going to bring Dennis' inner monster out and how are going to get Denis inspired. Wayne says he is not going to send monsters back so Dennis can like vampires and Wayne says they don't have to kill anymore they have pop tarts and there's nothing to kill her all of the sudden two dear wonder on to the scene Frank says what a cutie but kill him Wayne gets up close to a deer and tries to remember how he killed years ago because had not killed in years he first howls at the deer to scare it and then remembers that's for the moon then grails but then gets side tracked by a Frisbee, and gets into a a game of tug a war with a dog to get the Frisbee Dennis says get Uncle Wayne everybody else is excited except for Dracula who is shocked. Next its Murray's turn but before they can get started two human in a car drive up asking the monsters where they can get a bite eat then they realize that they are talking to a vampire feeling embarrassed they drive away, then Murray asks Dracula what he wants him to do now then Dracula tells Dennis he won't believe it and tells Dennis what a Mummy can do, crash through walls, turn into a swarm of beattiles, and can put a curse on anyone. Dennis says that sounds mean Dracula replies it's "fun mean" and he says ok so check it out Murray's going to conjure up the biggest sandstorm Dennis has ever seen and Murray says that it's been a while since he created the sandstorm, but Dracula replies that it's not his problem and tells Mummy to chant his spell and says ok and he tells Wayne, Frank and Griffin not to faint, and Murray does his spell, however he just ends up throwing out his back instead, and summons a small amount of sand, which Dennis makes a snowman out of it, then Frank takes two Raisins and a carrot from Dennis' backpack and puts the two raisins on the snowman as eyes, and the carrot as the nose that causes Wayne, Frank, Dennis, Griffin to laugh and Griffin says how cutie except for Dracula, who is shocked and mad and he gives Griffin a kitty twister.
Finally Dracula and his friends go to Dracula's childhood Summer Camp, Camp Winnepacaca to teach Dennis to be a Vampire and its the same place Dracula learned how to shape-shift, catch mice, use his incredible power, and strength and turn into a bat. when Dracula and the others take Dennis to Camp Winnepacaca they find out that it is under new management and Dracula is not pleased with all the changes done to his childhood summer camp like how and where they catch the mice what they now they call tee mouse unlike centuries ago where the vampires used to hunt and catch the mice, now the campers just grab the mouse off the tee, that makes Dracula angry while Dracula and Dennis are walking being shown more of the camp Dracula sees the jump tower he jumped off to fly when he was a boy, then Dracula and Dennis are told that they don't use the jump tower instead they now run onto a platform and jump through a rope that is one foot off the ground and they turn into bats then Dracula and Dennis are told that they do that for insurance then they are told by the camp instructor Dana says that they will meet at the campfire later at the campfire Dracula and the others are sitting around the campfire singing songs Dana tells everyone good job and tells them to give themselves a hug everyone is having a good time except for Dracula and Dracula picks up Dennis and tells the guys there going Frank asks where they are going they go to the jump tower and Murray asks Dracula why their doing this while ascending up the tower and Dracula replies by asking that they rather be listening to those putrid new songs, and what ever happened to I will row your corps a shore or Old McWarewolf had an Axe? When they get to the top Frank tells Dracula that they should not be up on the tower then Dracula asks Dennis who's ready to fly and says me me like a superhero and Dracula says better like a vampire then Frankenstein tells Dracula that the jump tower is rickety and also he says maybe Dennis is not suppose to fly then Dracula says quiet this is how they learn to fly you throw them and figure it out it's how I was taught then Dennis says he want to fly now and Dracula says as a bat and Dracula tells Dennis he'll be there for him if anything happens to him and Griffin says he can't watch this as he puts his head down as he folds his glasses because he doesn't want to see Dracula throw Dennis off the jump tower, Murray also doesn't want Dracula to throw Dennis off the jump tower and Murray tells Dracula please don't. Dracula doesn't listen to the guys and ends up throwing Dennis off the jump tower when Dracula says here we go when Dennis says wee as he falls down to ground. Frankenstin, Griffin, Muarry and Wayne run to the side of the tower to watch Dennis fall to the ground with worried expressions on their faces Frank says that Dennis is still not flying Dracula says he will then Wayne says still not Dracula say it'll happen Frank says this is a tall tower Dracula says that's why its good Murray tells Dracula he should go get Dennis and Wayne says he's going to fall to his death Dracula says he's taking his time just then they hear Dennis screaming then Frank yells at Dracula then Dracula realizes that Dennis is not going to fly then Dracula flies down the tower and turns into a bat and catches Dennis and transforms back into his human form just before Dennis hits ground then Dracula tells Dennis as they touch the ground that he told Dennis that he will always be there for him then Dennis tells Dracula he wants to do the jump tower again just then Dana comes up to Dracula and tells him they need to report what Dracula did to Dennis Dracula tells Dana he does not want the press but Dana tells Dracula that they need to call the authorities he can't report child endangerment and Dracula says having thrown Dennis off the tower was fun and that the singing was child endangerment and while Dracula and Dana argue Wayne asks Frank if they should go down and help Dracula but Frank says no he told Dracula that was nuts of what he just did to Dennis and says that Dracula is on his own and just as Frank is saying this he wakes over to the side of the tower and leans against it just then the tower starts to teeter and fall and at the same time Dracula and Dana are still arguing and Dana says they need to call Mavis but Dracula tells Dana that's not happening and he also says that Mavis is crazy then Dana says he needs follow protical then Dracula tries hypnotizes Dana into not have him fallow protical then Dana tells Dracula that he's a vampire and can't be hypnotized and Dracula says right agitated he forgot that he can't hypnotize other vampires but Dana is serious he tells Dracula he needs to calls the police but Dracula yells at Dana and tells him no one's calling nobody just then the tower falls and breaks apart and catches the camp and Frank on fire Frank screams fire and acciddenttly catches the cabins on fire to while Murray, Wayne, and Griffin try to com Frank down by running after him and tell him no and to tell him to stop drop and roll and also tell Frank to slow down and that screaming is not helping and that causes the vampire children to be excited and go towards the fire with their marshmelow sticks while Dennis' just watches stunned of what's just happened right in front of him and sadly walks over to Dracula and tugs on his cape and Dennis looks at Dracula with a sad expression on his face while Dracula looks down at Dennis with a concern look on his face and Dennis asks Dracula if their bad guys but Dracula reassures Dennis he's the best kid in the world and tells Dennis that they did not start the fire it was tower then Dracula yells at Dana for one last time telling Dana that's a very unsafe tower and he also says that Dana is lucky that they don't call the athorities then Dracula pick up Dennis and tells him that there leaving and Dennis says that he's batman to the bat mobile then Dracula chuckles at Dennis' remark and says yes to the he about say bat mobile but he gets cut off as he walks to the hearse and he and Dennis watches as a burning tree branch falls on the hearse that causes the hearse to catch fire a and burst into flames that stun Dracula, Dennis, and Dana.
Meanwhile in California Mavis and Johnny are siting on the roof of Johnny parents Mike and Linda's house Mavis tells Johnny about her concerns about Dennis growing up and she thinks that if Dennis grows up from Transylvania he would be such a freak like her but Johnny reassures Mavis that shes a blast and she's full of life carious about everything and Johnny says if Dennis grows up to be like her Johnny says he would be the luckiest dad in the world witch causes Mavis to chuckle and call Johnny by his monster disguise and tells him she loves him then Mavis realizes that they would be happy living anywhere even at hotel as they hug and Johnny whispers yes just then Johnny's cellphone goes off and Johnny checks his phone and Mavis asks him what he is doing and Johnny is surprised and says this kid is an awsome daredevil not realizing that it was Dennis at first as Johnny shows Mavis the video of Dennis being thrown off the tower then Mavis asks Johnny if that's Dennis and then Johnny realizes that it is Dennis then Johnny lies and tells Mavis no its just hard to see and deletes the video from his phone before Mavis can catch on to whats going on then Mavis groans at Johnny for deleting the video from his phone Mavis feeling something is off she calls her dad. Back at camp Drac, Griffin, Wayne, and Murray watch the fire fighters extingish Frank just then Drac's cellphone vibrates and Drac is scared to find out that it's Mavis is calling him and Dracula says hes not to answer Mavis' call but Frank tells him he has to then Drac says alright and answers Mavis' call and he says yes honey bunch then Mavis demands her father to tell her where they are then Dracula lies and says there at the hotel having a cookout and that it is perfectly safe then Mavis hears the sound of a siren and asks if that siren and Dracula says its just a couple of wailing banchies cheeking in the hotel and to make sound convinceing he says quiet you banches were trying to have a perfectly safe cookout over here that catches Dennis' attention and he runs up Drac wanting to talk to Mavis then Dana over hears the conversation and asks if that's Dennis' mother and Dennis tells Mavis that Drac is teaching him how to fly Drac felling that he about to get caught quickly smashes his cellphone onto Dana's face to prevent Mavis from seeing where they are witch only Drac manages to crack his phone screen and he tells Mavis that he getting more static on his phone by making static sounds by the second time Mavis can see through his lies and tells him she is coming back to the hotel and says he better be at the hotel before she gets to the hotel or Drac will be in big trouble once Mavis ends the call Johnny asks Mavis what's gong on Mavis tells Johnny that they need to go back to the hotel as she walks off roof Johnny fallows but falls off the roof and lands in the busies and says he going to get his backpack then Drac freaks out and asks how are they going to get out of the camp because they have no hearse then Griffin tells Drac not to worry he made a call witch turns out to be Bloby with animals and stuff in himself and jigales at Drac to tell Drac why he didn't call him and Drac apaloges to Bloby for not calling him sooner then Drac, Murray, Griffin, Wayne. Frank, and Dennis go onto Bloby's side car to head back to the hotel before Mavis and Johnny get their everything is going well until Bloby tells Drac that he has to go to the bathroom that annoys Drac and he says to Blobby since now that they don't have any traffic and Drac wonders why Boby is doing this to him now after they let Bloby do his business they get back on the side car and continue heading back to the hotel and then the sidecars battery dies then Drac tells Frank to blow up Bloby like a balloon then Drac and the others head through a train tunnel and Dennis laughs and Drac asks Dennis why is he laughing then Drac rubs his hand against Blobi's body then Drac tells Dennis this is flying and Dennis says like a vampire and Drac chuckles and tells Denis that's my boy look at you go and Dennis laughs and tells Drac he's coolest guy who wears a cape. just then Drac and gang touch down at the hotel and calls Mavis to ask her when is going arrive at hotel and Drac tells Mavis that they waiting for her and Johnny to return from their vacation in California but in middle sentence Drac realizes that Mavis is right in front of him witch causes Drac to gasp in surprise then Mavis demands her father to give Dennis to her Drac lies to Mavis and tells her they just went out to grab some advicados then Dennis tells Mavis that he flew then Mavis tells Dennis that she saw then Mavis shows the guys the video that causes Dracula to ware shocked look on his face and Bloby dances to the video then Mavis tells her dad that she didn't think Dennis was safe around other monsters but after Mavis watched the video of Drac throwing Dennis off the jump tower at the camp Mavis thinks that Dennis is not even safe around her dad and Mavis thinks her dad let her down while Drac had Dennis in his care while Mavis and Johnny were on vacation in California visiting Johnny's parents, Drac tries to reassures Mavis that Dennis' life would be better if he was a monster then Mavis reminds her dad what he said at Mavis' and Johnny's wedding when Mavis asks about marring a human. Mavis also says to her dad that there going to have Dennis' 5th birthday party at the hotel then Johnny, Mavis, and Dennis are going to move but Drac begs Mavis to stay then Mavis tells her dad that he may have let humans in the hotel but doesn't really think that he has let humans into his heart then Drac watches Mavis pick up Dennis and heads into the hotel Drac then looks at Johnny Johnny then look at Drac and the guys one last time as he fallows Mavis into the hotel Drac wares a sad look on face then sighs in disappointment because he couldn't make Dennis a monster.
Vlad's Return
Later that night the Dracula and the Lauguren families have dinner excluding Vlad, everybody is having a good time Linda says how its so nice to have whole family together then Linda ask Mavis if she any cousins or thingies Mavis says no it just her and Dracula then Linda says to Mavis that she didn't ask about her mom Mavis says she was killed by angry humans and Linda says oh then Erik the phantom of the opera sings the word awkward witch causes Dracula and Mavis to glare and Johnny's family look in surprised then Mavis says but their is my grandpa Vlad and Linda says oh you have a grandpa and Mavis says yeah and that he's coming to Dennis' 5th birthday party Mavis invited him witch causes Drac to spit out his blood beater all over Linda Drac asks Mavis why she invited Vlad Mavis says its because he's never seen Dennis and Mavis wants Dennis to meet Vlad once before Mavis, Johnny, and Dennis move to California and Drac puts on a fake smile says "Sure, peachy and good old Vlad."
Then Dracula says yes that grandpa Vlad will be so happy when sees the big masquerade party that him and Johnny have planned and says what since Johnny knew that Drac never told Johnny about the masceraide party then Drac freezes every body except for him and Johnny and Drac tells Johnny Vlad is his dad and Johnny thinks that funny but Drac serious tells Johnny to listen to him and Drac tells Johnny that Vlad can not know that he and his family are humans then Johnny tries to reassure Drac their proud to be with monsters but get cut off by Drac and Drac says Vlad will eat Johnny's family souls and eat Johnny backpack witch shocks Johnny then he looks at his backpack then unfreezes the family and Johnny tells them that their going to throw Dennis' 5th birthday party as a monster masquerade party witch causes Mavis to wonder they really going to do the monster masquerade party for Dennis 5th birthday party then Linda says its the howraw before Dennis lives with normal people and Drac says he couldn't never say it better. Then on Wednesday night on Dennis' 5th birthday everybody is having a great time at the hotel human and monster alike, Dracula walks through the crowed of monsters nervously smiling as a monster tells Drac that Dennis' 5th birthday party is amazing then Drac spots Johnny warring a vampire costume made of red garmit with fake paper claws,vampire head wig and fake fags and Drac asks Johnny is that really his vampire costume and he's nuts Johnny says he ordered his vampire costume online and it was the only place he could order overnight and Drac tells Johnny that his vampire head wig looks like a baboon's but on the head then Drac asks Johnny if he has practiced his vampire voice and tells johnny he can't just act like a hippy.
Bela's Attack
As the family fight comes to a close Johnny realizes that Dennis is missing and everybody starts to panic and search for Dennis in the hotel looking everywhere for him even calling out his name numerous times then the families decide to go outside to search for Dennis but as they leave the hotel to search for Dennis Mavis yells at her grandfather and tells him that she regrets inviting him to Dennis' 5th birthday party then Dracula and Vlad share the same sad expression on their faces then Dracula goes outside with the other and transforms into his bat form and flies off with Mavis who also transforms into her bat form and flies off to look for Dennis until they hear the sound of bat roars and they rush to the origin of the sound thinking Dennis is in danger but by the time they get their Dracula and Mavis are surprised to see Dennis already transformed into his bat form and battling Bella on his own then once everybody spot Dennis Dracula and Mavis transform back to their human forms and everybody tell Dennis that their very proud of him just then Dennis senses Bela's gang was coming and Dennis quickly transforms back into his bat form and starts to fight off the bat cronies off one by one witch encourages Dracula and Mavis to fight the bat cronies as Dracula says oh this is going be fun then Dracula rushes in to fight the bat cronies as he kicks the the bat cronies in a zigzag motion and punches them in the face then freezes them in the air and walk away and unfreezes the bat cronies and make them crash in to each other then Dracula in bat form finishes off the bat cronies along with Mavis and Dennis in their bat forms as well. After the battle with the bat cronies Dracula and the other monsters and humans cheer in victory as the bat cronies fly away in defeat just then Johnny jumps in doing some karotie moves witch annoys Dracula then Dennis asks Dracula now that he's vampire and a superhero if he is cool now Dracula reassures Dennis that he has always been cool human, vampire, unicorn no matter what then Dennis asks if they can stay at the hotel and Mavis agrees and the monsters cheer in excitement and Linda tells Dennis that the'll come visit him every holiday and everybody cheers in excitement at the same time in the bushes. Bela is fuming with anger and gabs a stick and decides to kill Johnny in revenge Bella bursts out of the bushes and flies at Johnny and prepares to kill him so Johnny protects himself all the sudden Bella is frozen and then Johnny and everybody are surprised that Vlad saved Johnny's life Vlad tells Bella to never come near him or his family again and shrinks Bella to a harmless size and Bella tries to run a way and he gets licked by the warewolf kids witch causes Dracula to chuckle and tells his father that he just saved a human then Vlad chuckles than Vlad apaloges to Dennis for putting him under all that pressure for forcing his fangs to come out and Vlad says who cares and says his fangs came out years ago and he takes out his fangs to show Dennis witch causes Dennis to laugh and Drac tells his dad to put his fangs back in his mouth before they all barff and Johnny say to Dennis isn't it somebody's birthday. Dracula and and the other monsters and humans head back to the hotel to continue finishing up Dennis' 5th Birthday celebration Dracula does the D.J then dances with his dad then he watches Dennis as he about blow out the candle on his birthday cake then Dracula's face expression changes to his mad face due to the Elderly Gremlin who at Dennis' entire birthday cake.
Personality
Dracula dearly loved his his wife, Martha so much that he was heartbroken when she died, prompting a massive distrust towards humanity.
After her death, the only thing that Dracula cared about was his daughter Mavis, and would kill if it meant protecting her however as she was his only family, he can be overprotective and overbearing.
He can also be selfish, going out of his way to secure that no danger would come to Mavis which goes as far as deceiving and lying to her such as making out humanity as being violent monsters who would attack her on sight by having his hotel clerks dressed as humans try to kill her when she began to explore a human village which he also had his clerks make up.
In the second film, he was willing to put his grandson, Dennis in danger as to help him earn his fangs so Mavis wouldn't move away. These actions end up driving the people he was trying to protect away from him.
Dracula is all too aware of the cruelty and prejudice that humanity was capable of, eventually he deduced that monster-kind would never be accepted by society and instead reclused their kind in his own hotel, Hotel Transylvania.
Dracula's closest friend was Frankenstein and they inevitably shared a lot of history, Drac trusted Frank that much he even made him Mavis' god-uncle.
However as the first film progresses, Dracula begins to realise his biased opinions towards humanity was actually untrue.
Although he was initially cold and hostile towards Jonathan, a human who wandered his way into Hotel Transylvania he slowly began to warm up to the human and even accepting him as a suitable mate for his daughter this was also proven by giving him his blessing to marry his daughter at the end of the film.
When the villagers of Transylvania discovered that he and the rest of the monsters of fairy tale were real instead of attacking they actually welcome him, reigniting his trust for humanity.
Despite his faults, Dracula would also go to extreme lengths to make Mavis happy including risking his own life to bring Jonathan back to Transylvania and allowing Mavis to live her own life the way she wanted.
Dracula hated being stereotyped, and was always very insulted when people thought he said "blah, blah, blah" and would angrily correct them if a person would do so.
Powers and Abilities
Being a vampire, Dracula can take the form of a bat, He possesses superhuman strength and speed. He is able to fly into the air, He can use hypnosis to erase people's memories or mind control them. He is capable of using telekinesis to move objects.
Trivia
- He is different from the real life (possibly urban) Count Dracula.
- Dracula is very similar to King Triton. Both lost their wives to humans (Dracula to Martha, Triton to Queen Athena) and have developed a deep hatred of humans as a result. Both realize that not all humans are bad after meeting a human man who falls for their daughter (Dracula to Jonathan, Triton to Eric), both are overprotective of their daughters (Mavis and Ariel) until they realize that they're old enough to follow their dreams and both have become grandfathers in the sequel.
- Dracula is sometimes thought to be an antagonist but however this isn't true.
