Chemical King is a superhero in the 30th Century. He represents the planet Phlon in the Legion of Super-Heroes. His mutant physiology makes him a human catalyst, allowing him to slow down or speed up any chemical reaction. To stop World War VII, he sacrificed himself in battle against the Dark Circle. This made him one of the Legion's earliest casualties. Chemical Kid became his successor in the Legion Academy. Alchemical Girl uses the process that gave him powers to become a villain. In Reboot Legion continuity he is not a member of the Legion. However, it is hinted that he dates Invisible Kid. Chemical King was created by Jim Shooter and Curt Swan, first appearing in Adventure Comics #371. (1968)
