Chihiro Ogino has declared Pawn of the Villain is to be renamed to

for the following reason(s): Grammatically less clunky.
Please discuss it on the talk page for this article.
"I want you to know my real name. It's Chihiro."

Stop hand

I was a fool. I had been deceived that I had been working for a greater good. I was in fact an unknowing tool of a greater evil.
~ Shujinko regretting how he was manipulated by Onaga.
It's funny, really. Twilight here was suspicious of my behavior all along. Too bad the rest of you were too caught up in your wedding planning to realize those suspicions were correct!
~ Queen Chrysalis gloating to Twilight Sparkle's friends, family and mentor how she manipulated them all against her from the start.
Chester V: It was never gonna turn off the machine! A BS-USB? Hello! Your machine is what I wanted all along.

Flint: You… lied to me!
Chester V: Of course I lied to you. I knew you'd eventually fall for these pathetic creatures!
Flint: But… but you were my idol. My whole life, I looked up to you. I wanted to be you!
Chester V: Oh, Lockwood. I was just using you to get your invention. We're ready. Launch Operation Slice and Dice.

~ Flint Lockwood learning that Chester V had secretly been manipulating him all along.
I saw the letters you got from him. "Rest assured, your name will go down in history. Jade, world's greatest engineer." He played you, Jade. He knew what buttons to push and you let him.
~ Swifty to Jade about her unwitting role in Otto Von Walrus' plot.
Face it, genius. You've been played.
~ Harry Flynn reveals his true nature and betrayal to Nathan Drake.
I would've said anything if it meant you'd deliver the Box to me fully charged. Hate to break it to ya, kiddo, but you've been duped.
~ King Andrias, revealing that he tricked Marcy Wu.

A Pawn of a Villain is a hero who was used by a villain or villains to achieve a goal. The villain will often betray the hero afterwards, and the result tends to manifest as one of these outcomes:

  • The villain successfully disposes of the hero by killing them.
  • The hero manages to evade the villain's clutches and fights back against the villain's scheme to make amends.

A Pawn of a Villain is the good counterpart of villainous pawns.
