Farkas "Bulk" Bulkmeier and Eugene "Skull" Skullovitch are supporting characters in the Power Rangers franchise. They were the main comic relief duo of the franchise from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers up until Power Rangers in Space. Since then, they made cameo appearances up until Power Rangers Samurai (later Super Samurai) when Bulk returned with Skull's teenage son Spike. They are also major characters in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers The Movie and supporting characters in Turbo A Power Rangers Movie.

They were portrayed by Paul Schrier and Jason Narvy as teenagers and adults, and by the late Cody Slaton and Ross J. Samya as children.

Early Lives[]

Bulk and Skull seemed destined to be friends from day one, they first met in the maternity ward at the hospital where they were born. Every time Bulk cried, Skull cried as well. It was also shown in the episode "Rangers Back in Time" that they became best friends after Skull shoved a popsicle down the back of Bulk's shirt, and he decided not to beat him up for doing it.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers[]

In their first appearances, they started off as antagonists to the rangers. They were a duo of punk bullies who constantly taunted and berated the rangers. They would often call them Dweebs and Nerds but they would always get their comeuppance in the end, getting humiliated (usually in a messy way).

In season 2 after being saved by the rangers they made it their mission to find out their identities. They have come close on a few occasions most notably when they witnessed the Rangers teleporting down in front of them but had their memories erased by Scatterbrain.

In season 3 they joined the Angel Grove Junior Police Force because they overheard some girls say they like a man in uniform, there they meet Lieutenant Jerome Stone and graduated. They were typically tasked by Stone to do simple jobs like handing out parking tickets, but always failed miserably. Despite this, they took their job very seriously and were very loyal to Stone.

In Mighty Morphin Power Rangers The Movie Bulk and Skull along with the rangers participated in a charity skydive, but they landed in a construction site instead of the actual target. They later help the ranger's young friend Fred, stopping the brainwashed parents from jumping off the construction site cliff. They are last seen at the after party celebration when a sign of lights thanking the rangers shows up, they take great offence because they had a big part in helping save people's lives.

Power Rangers Zeo[]

Bulk and Skull remained members of the Junior Police Force, but after Bulk's attempts to win the affection of the police chief's daughter caused Stone to get fired, the duo both quit as a show of respect to Stone. Stone later set up a detective agency with the duo as his only employees.

In the episode "Instrument of Destruction" Adam discovers that Skull is a classically trained pianist, and he's been playing since he was 3 years old. Because of his tough guy image he always kept this a secret even from Bulk, he tells Adam that he's afraid people will laugh at him and Bulk will never stop making fun of him if he ever found out but Adam reassures Skull that if Bulk really is his friend he would be proud of him this inspires Skull to overcome his fear and perform Chopin's Revolutionary Étude in front of a live crowd and Bulk tells Skull that it was the most beautiful thing he had ever heard and apologizes to skull for saying that only dweebs play music and the crowd gives them both a standing ovation.

In the episode "King for a Day" they accidentally get trapped in Prince Gasket's prison while looking for Tommy. They meet an alien named Tritor from Horath who assumes they're great warriors, he tells the duo that they're in a holding cell for gladiator's of Gasket's arena. Since Gasket grabs the best warriors of planets he conquers for the arena, Tritor convinced the pair to help him escape and free the other prisoners. They help Tritor defeat a squad of Cogs and destroy the brain drain machine, freeing Tommy and the other prisoners. They are thanked by Tritor saying they will be forever worshipped as heroes on his homeworld the duo are then sent back to earth. Furthermore, they boast about this back on earth but no one believes them except for Tommy, Katherine and Jason, thinking they're still being mocked they just walk away.

Bulk and Skull would eventually leave Stone to take on a top secret mission in France, whatever that mission was is still unknown.

Power Rangers Turbo[]

In Turbo A Power Rangers Movie Elgar abducts them to be used as sacrifices for Maligore unfortunately this scrambles their brains and Divatox deems them useless, so she has them both locked up. While in custody due to the brain scrambling, Skull thinks he is Spanish actor Antonio Banderas and Bulk thinks he is German. In spite of this, they eventually escape and are rescued by the rangers and restore them both back to the way they were.

Bulk and Skull eventually returned from France and reconciled with Stone. Although they constantly screw up and never do their job right they are given one last chance to join the police force, unfortunately Elgar turns the duo into chimpanzees and this marks the end of their time in the police force. They would remain chimpanzees for a few episodes and Stone would take them into his care because they seemed familiar to him, they would make several attempts to let stone know that they were Bulk and Skull but all of them failed. Bulk and Skull were later changed back into humans by Divatox's torpedoes, but they remained temporally invisible they later become visible again and Stone asks them where they have been, to which they reply, "Just monkeying around." Now that they were no longer police officers they needed to find work, so Stone arranged jobs for the duo, but they would always get fired.

Power Rangers in Space[]

After Bulk and Skull observe Astronema's Dark Fortress through a telescope, they try to get help from the slightly looney and eccentric scientist Professor Phenomenus who specializes in alien searching. They find a mailbox out in the open but can't find any sort of building, so they decide to go, but before they do Professor Phenomenus calls out to them through the mailbox microphone and Bulk and Skull tell him about the aliens he then shows up in a small van and agrees to help them.

In the 2nd part of the episode "Countdown to Destruction" Bulk and Skull arguably have their greatest moment when the citizens of Angel Grove start to lost hope and believe the rangers have abandoned them, Bulk reassures everyone that the rangers have never let them down, and they have to keep believing in them. Astronema demands that the rangers show themselves, or she will destroy the earth when no one steps at first Astronema gloats about the beginning of the end for earth but just then Bulk steps up and says that he is the blue ranger Skull, Professor Phenomenus and all the citizens of Angel Grove then follow up by saying they are all rangers to. Astronema having heard enough demands her army destroy everyone, Just then the rangers show up and reveal themselves to the citizens of Angel Grove and the fight begins again. Bulk and Skull then lead the citizens into battle in aiding the rangers. They are last seen celebrating with Professor Phenomenus.

In the original plans for in Space, Bulk and Skull were going to form a volunteer Citizen Force Group to protect Angel Grove while the Power Rangers were away.[1]

Power Rangers Lost Galaxy[]

Bulk and Professor Phenomenus are first seen boarding the space station Terra Venture, they are certain they have forgotten something and to their horror they realize Skull isn't with them having overslept. During their journey, Bulk and the professor start working in the Comet Café after getting fired from the science division. In the series finale Journey's End, they survived Terra Venture's crash and evacuation to Mirinoi.

Power Rangers Wild Force[]

They have a cameo appearance in the special episode Forever Red, how Bulk returned from Mirinoi is unknown. In this episode, Bulk and Skull own and operate a tropical themed bar called Bulkmeier's. Bulk gets a phone call from Andros and he and Skull seem pretty intimidated since it was for Tommy, implying that they know he is a ranger. This was the last major appearance for the duo for 9 years.

Power Rangers Samurai (Super Samurai)[]

Skull leaves Bulk in charge of his teenage son named Spike. Spike arrived from a bus to stay with his honorary uncle, who wants to train him in the ways of the Samurai. Like his father, Spike is clumsy has his high-pitched laugh and has a crush on the pink ranger Bulk and Spike would often train together and try to do various good deeds, but they would all fail due to their clumsiness or cowardice.

Despite this they would play a big role in the episode "Stroke of Fate" where they found one of Serrator's holes in the ground and decide to cover it up using chewing gum they roll a huge ball into the hole and manage to plug it but get stuck onto the ball.

In the 2nd Christmas themed episode "Stuck on Christmas" Bulk and Spike show up at the dojo with Spike bringing a present for Mia, Mentor Ji invites them in since they're freezing cold. Bulk and Spike tell Mentor Ji how they sometimes help the rangers when they can, of course these claims are greatly exaggerated but Mentor Ji goes along with it even allowing them to meet the rangers and wish them a Merry Christmas, they then leave the dojo.

In the series finale "Samurai Forever" Spike is going home and tells his uncle Bulk that he will never forget training with him, and he will miss him. Skull then arrives in a limousine to pick up his son Bulk then notices his shoe lace is undone and Skull accidentally knocks Bulk down with the door and then trips over him showing after all these years he is still accident-prone but nonetheless Bulk still says he looks great while Skull comments that Bulk hasn't changed a bit to which bulk grabs him by the collar saying neither has he. Skull thanks Bulk for taking care of Spike and hopes someday that he will visit, and they can catch up Skull and Spike then leave with Bulk waving goodbye to them both Skull and Spike then peek out through the sunroof and shout "see ya Bulky" before their heads collide with a height barrier which causes Bulk to laugh just like Spike this is the last physical appearance of the two of them together in the entire franchise.
