Boltie, (also known as Libby) is the deuteragonist of the 2010 film Super. After discovering that one of her customers, Frank Darbo, has become a masked vigilante known as the Crimson Bolt, Libby convinces Frank to let her be his sidekick and she takes on the name "Boltie".

History[]

Libby meets Frank Darbo when he visits "Comic Smash!" in search of "research material" for his new superhero identity. While Frank does not tell her directly about his plans, Libby connects the dots after reading about the exploits of the Crimson Bolt in the papers. When Frank is on the run from Jacques' goons, he hides out at Libby's place and tells her everything. Psyched by the fact that she knows a "real superhero", Libby begs Frank to take her on as his sidekick. She designs her own costume and calls herself "Boltie".

Libby takes her role as a superhero sidekick to almost psychotic extremes, reveling in crippling criminals and failing to call Frank by his hero name out in public. She begins to develop sexual feelings towards Frank and even goes so far as to rape him, having sex with him which is an act that appalls Frank immediately afterwards. Though Libby is hyperactive and reckless, Frank keeps her by his side when he decides to go after Jacques directly and rescue his wife Sarah.

When Frank and Libby invade Jacques' ranch, Libby brutally murder the henchmen stationed outside. Jacques and his business associate Mr. Range send more men outside to deal with the intruders. Frank and Libby are shot at and both fall into the tall grass. Frank was spared any severe damage by his bulletproof vest, but Libby was killed as she took a shotgun round to the head, destroying half her skull. After Frank killed Jacques and his goons and rescued Sarah, he carried Libby’s lifeless body and put her in the trunk of his car and drove off.

Physical Appearance[]

Boltie wears a homemade costume that consists of a homemade yellow spandex jumpsuit, dark green gloves, a dark green skirt with a belt, a dark green eye mask to conceal her identity, she has an emblem imprinted onto her chest, and dark green boots.

As Libby, she is portrayed as a petite young woman who is about 5'1 inches tall. She has dark brown wavy hair, light brown eyes and she has scrumptious lips. She usually wears jeans with either a sweater or a jean jacket.

Personality[]

She is a friendly, nerdy sort of girl who really likes working in the comic book store. Once her eyes are opened to the ballsiness of the Crimson Bolt, let alone becomes Boltie, her world and her mind change. She is shown to become a psycho when she’s Boltie, always wanting to brutally hurt people who are criminals. She also suffers from sexsomnia.

Powers/Skills[]

Brutality: Boltie is shown to be incredibly savage and vicious to anyone she sees as morally corrupt. Even brutally assaulting a guy who stole her friends car. She has no remorse for criminals and is willing to kill, maim, and injure anyone who is viewed as evil.

Determination: When Boltie sets her mind to something, she is shown to never quit or walk away from what she feels she must do. When shown that stopping crime will be the most difficult task she will have to face, she educates herself and Frank in weapon building and firearms so they are able to take on Jacques and save Frank's wife.

Trivia[]

Although Super and Kick-Ass have many similarities, James Gunn, the director of Super, and Mark Millar, the writer of Kick-Ass, both say that neither movie ripped each other off.
James Gunn went on to direct Guardians of the Galaxy and Slither.
The claws that Boltie wears to fight crime with The Crimson Bolt are like the ones that X-23 has from the marvel comics.
Elliot Page is the actor who portrayed Boltie, he is known for his appearance in the X-Men films as Kitty Pryde.
