Antigone is the heroine of the play of the same name, which is the third in the "Oedipus" cycle. She is one of two daughters (and four children in all) incessantly born to Oedipus and his mother Jocasta. She is about to be executed for breaking Creon's law that one of her brothers, Polyneices, was not allowed to be given a burial.
